Barracks Buddies Playgroup

Mondays | 10 am - 12pm during the school term

Our Barracks Buddies Playgroup is back for another year of fun, connection, and creativity. Each week, we host a structured activity for little ones to enjoy - from sensory play and craft to basic cooking, gardening, and mini obstacle courses. We love tying sessions into current events, seasons, and special dates, so there’s always something fresh and themed to explore.

Alongside the weekly activity, there’s plenty of free play with our toys and resources, giving grown‑ups the chance to enjoy a coffee and connect with our wonderful community

Little Buddies Baby Play

Thursdays | 11 am - 1pm during the school term

Supporting Strength, Connection and Wellbeing

Little Buddies Baby Play is a calm, nurturing session created especially for our youngest community members aged 0–18 months and their carers. The play space and activities are thoughtfully set up with babies in mind, encouraging sensory exploration, early development, and gentle social connection in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Older siblings are very welcome to attend alongside their baby brothers or sisters. While the main focus and activity setup is centred on babies, we embrace the realities of family life and aim to create a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable and included.

Little Buddies Baby Play is a lovely opportunity to connect with other families, enjoy meaningful play, and build relationships within our community at a pace that suits you and your baby.

Spouse PT @ Simpson Barracks

Tuesdays | 11 am

Supporting Strength, Connection and Wellbeing

Spouse PT offers a welcoming and inclusive opportunity for Defence partners and members of the wider base community to prioritise their wellbeing through safe, functional movement. Delivered in collaboration with the Base PTI team, sessions are led by qualified trainers and designed to support strength, mobility and confidence at all fitness levels.

Understanding the challenges parents can face in finding time to train, SBCC offers an in‑centrecreche during Spouse PT sessions, providing peace of mind while participants focus on their health. This service is a key benefit available exclusively to financial members of SBCC, reinforcing SBCC’s commitment to supporting families, connection and resilience across the base.

Coffee Catchup

Wednesdays | 10:30 am

Various Locations around Greater Melbourne & Once a Month in the Barracks Community Centre

Our mid‑week coffee catch‑ups are returning for another year of good conversation, community connection, and exploring great local cafés together. Each Wednesday at 10:30am, we choose a new spot from our ever‑growing list of favourites - and we’re always open to suggestions. If you have a café you love or one you’d like the group to try, please share it with me.

These sessions are designed to be relaxed, grown‑up catch‑ups. They’re especially lovely for those with older children or no children at all, offering a space to chat without the usual playgroup energy. Children are absolutely welcome, but the focus stays on adult conversation and connection.
